Munson is thrilled to announce an exciting new exhibition, “American Landscapes from the New-York Historical Society,” featuring stunning paintings that capture the awe-inspiring beauty of the American wilderness. This exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience the remarkable works of the Hudson River School artists, who celebrated the majesty of nature through their intricate and often idealized landscape paintings.

A Glimpse into the Exhibition

Featuring over 53 works of art by 31 artists, “American Landscapes from the New-York Historical Society” will be one of the largest exhibitions of American landscape painting ever displayed in Utica. The show will highlight masterpieces by Thomas Cole, Asher Brown Durand, Frederic Church, Robert Duncanson, and Albert Bierstadt, among many others. In the early to mid-1800s, the majestic vistas of New York State’s Hudson River Valley and surrounding areas, such as the Catskill, Adirondack, and White Mountains, inspired this remarkably talented group of American artists, who became known as the Hudson River School.
